How Did We Get Started??

A brief history

We wanted to merge our love for nature and our desire to create a safe and healing space for Trans, Non-Binary, Genderqueer, Intersex, and all the LGBTQIA+ folx in New England. We also realized that there are some great people in the local community who want to help provide not only a safe space, but some life skills and nutritious food to those LGBTQIA+ folx who have been displaced, or are low/no-income.

After purchasing a historic farm in Foster Rhode Island we found that the past 25+ years spent as a horse ranch had compacted the soil and decimated the local flaura and fauna. After several smaller projects of converting the ground cover to native, sustainable plants, converting power to solar, and working to encourage the return of local animals and pollinators, we found that the work was incredibly healing, and we were able to create a safe space and sense of community with other LGBTQIA+ folx in New England.

Where we started ...

Where we are today

Beginning with 3 hard working Volunteers, we obtained a conservation grant and built up our first accessible raised beds, green house, and hen house. We are now up to 10 hard working folx, partnering with several local organizations, learning more about soil science and sustainable agriculture best practices, and are applying for additional grants to expand.

This started out a giant dirt patch, but now our first set of beds are almost ready for the planting season!
Aside from our areas dedicated to safety and growing basics, we also have a view port to see the soil layers and root structure. Education is built into our beds!
